JBR Vineyards: A Rare Experience

Pearisburg, Virginia

Est. in 2014

When you visit JBR Vineyards, you’ll encounter a small and unique winery nestled in the heart of Virginia. Founded in 2014, JBR Vineyards is a family-owned and operated winery dedicated to producing excellent wines. Co-owner and manager of JBR Vineyards, Deborah Ring, shares the story of their winery, their unique products, and why visitors should plan a visit to JBR Vineyards.

JBR Vineyards began with the love of wine and a desire to do something different after retirement. The owners experimented with different grape varieties and decided to grow grapes rarely seen in Virginia – Pinot Noir and Riesling. In 2014, they were licensed as a Virginia Farm Winery, and since then, they have been producing high-quality wines that reflect the unique terroir of Virginia.

What makes their product offerings unique is their focus on growing rare grape varieties and producing excellent wines rather than leaning into being an event venue or restaurant. They offer personalized tastings rather than an assembly line experience of some of the larger wineries. They also grow, produce, and bottle 100% of their grapes, further setting them apart from other wineries and have a winemaker with a certificate in Winemaking from UC Davis, California.

JBR Vineyards has 3.5 acres under vine and grows Riesling, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Franc. If you’re looking to try their biggest seller, get your hands on a glass (or bottle) of their Riesling, which is processed with the same techniques used for making this varietal in Germany.

JBR Vineyards produces wines that reflect the unique growing environment of Virginia. With their focus on production and their rare grape varieties as well as a personalized experience, visitors can expect a truly unique and intimate visit.
